The War of the Rebellion Atlas

Published by the U.S. War Department in 1895. “When the War Department began to issue its 70 volume set of records generated by both the Union and Confederate Armies, it also created an atlas to accompany the official records of the Union and Confederate Armies, published in 1895. Its 175 plates contain more than 1,000 maps, illustrations, and diagrams detailing battlefield maps, scenes from the conflict, and military equipment.” -Baylor University.

Summary of Operations Maps, World War I

The supplementary folding maps from the book series “Summary of Operations in the World War” published in 1944 by the American Battle Monuments Commission. These cover the participation of American military forces in WWI. There is a set for each American Division in the war, with a text summarizing operations accompanying the maps for each division. Atlases of World War I

Of the six atlases here, four are atlases of World War I; each from a different publisher. The other two atlases show the “new Europe” and other regions of the world with redrawn political boundaries that resulted from the post-war Paris peace negotiations in 1919.
