The Collections were published from 1894 to 1919 as 12 consecutive numbers divided into four volumes. Vol 1 is deceptive in that it appears to be one continuous publication, without title pages or breaks indicating the start of new numbers 2 and 3. It also contains no Table of Contents for numbers 2 and 3. The remaining volumes also fail to list the contents of several numbers. You will find a complete Table of Contents for the first four volumes, with page numbers, at the link entitled “TOC Vols I-IV”. Each volume has an index at the end.

Toronto: Women’s Canadian Historical Society of Toronto Dewey Dec. 971.1
The Society was organized in 1895. According to its Constitution, “the objects of the Women’s Canadian Historical Society of Toronto are the encouragement of a study of Canadian history and literature; the collection and preservation of Canadian historical records and relics, and the building up of Canadian loyalty and patriotism.” The constitution seems to indicate that the society would focus on national rather than local history.

Transactions of the United Empire Loyalists’ Association of Ontario, 1898-1900
1901-1904 1914-1916
Annual Transactions 1898-1904, 1914-1916
Toronto: Rose Dewey Dec. 971.1
The Association was founded in 1896. Full membership was available only for persons who could trace their lineal descent from the United Empire Loyalists, and the purpose of the society was to preserve the history of those loyalists. Until 1914 this seems to have been the only United Empire Loyalists’ Association. In that year the Canadian Parliament passed an act that created a nation-wide association with branches in all provinces and territories; with the Toronto branch as the chief one.
